How To Test Your Broadband Speed

It is very important that you know how to test your broadband speed and do it on a regular basis. Think about all those times when you have wanted to hit your PC because a page that you were visiting was taking way too long to load and you automatically blamed it on the webmaster.

How do you honestly know it was there fault?

It’s just an assumption, one that I have made more times than I can remember. But I am sure that I not unique with this thought. In England for example where I live there are many, many different Broadband providers and they all have a different reputation, some bad, some good and most of the time they are deserved. The bigger companies in general offer the worst service as they simply have too much to deal with and the quality of the product then suffers as a result.

I am not hear to name and shame as that wouldn’t be fair as I am not here today to write a review on them. But I do want to point out to you the importance of testing your broadband speed and if you don’t you will be left wondering if you are getting the best service on offer. If you do complete a test on your Broadband you may even find that you can get to the bottom of any problems you have and improve the quality of your broadband experience.

One of the key reasons why your broadband speed may have been affected is due to living in a newly built house. When these properties are being developed the signal strength on the phone line can be weaker than with an older property this will then cause you to lose part of your speed. Of course there are many other reasons but this is just a good example.

Most of us have very little IT knowledge and just assume that we turn on the computer and hey presto we launch Internet Explorer but it’s a lot more to it than that. For starters the way your speed works is by how fast the data can transfer from one computer on the internet to your own. So obviously you want to the best speed possible.

To test your broadband speed is very easy indeed. All you need is a simple tester and you can find out EXACTLY how good your connection is. You can then deal with it if you have a problem or be thankful that yours is working perfectly.
